Not Serving all Students Equally

Yorktown Elementary

Chronic Absentee Rates have increased from 8.4% to 14.5% to 19.4% last year. Almost 20% of the students were absent last year more than 10% of the time.

This contributes to why 36% of the black students at this school could not pass their math tests outright and 54% of the students with disabilities could not pass the math test with one try.

That represents a lot of families that have students at this school underperforming in math.  These families should be very concerned.

The 3 year average for black students in English, 40% of the students could not outright pass the test… this is concerning and I hope the community would be pushing for accountability here.

The question might be: do they know or are these students losing out to some online popularity poll,

The Niche report?  Student achievement is the purpose of public education, I believe.  Next year the standards go up, then what?
